Hey guys I know this is random but I have a kitten I am fostering to help with the nearby shelter’s overpopulation. She’s very banged up and I can’t bring her inside yet because of the possibility of worms. I have to take her to the clinic and get her checked out and I was wondering if y’all could help me with the funding. All the money will go to the clinic bill and food and whatever else she needs. Here are the pictures the lady gave me yesterday for those that need proof of what I’m talking about. I’m doing a separate post since this money is not for me. The lady told me that it’ll probably be $200 for the first visit to make sure this little sweetie Pearl gets all her vaccinations among others things, but will have to wait to get her spayed since she’s still a kitten. She also has very large lump on her cheek and a hidden one under her fur near her neck which might be an abscess but won’t be sure until the doctor visit tomorrow. Please help in anyway you can and if you want to donate more, would help even more so for future visits! And will update again tomorrow!
I bet the little amongus guys taste delicious I bet you could crunch like five of them in your mouth at once I bet the suits like a candy coating I bet there’s chocolate inside like an Eminem
i dont think i posted these but here i made a little frog pattern to make tiny frog toys with my grandma
this is the first lil guy I made while still learning how i should sew it
AAA ok so a lot of people have been asking for the pattern to this, tho I’ve been using just these two little papers to do the cut outs lol
i tried my best to translate it into digital so that people get a bit more accurate look at them. Tho bear with me I’ve never done an actual pattern design sheet before!
so basically my hope is that anyone could print these out to any size of their choosing and get the same result, but ive never tried anything larger than approx. 3 inches with these sooo idk if you try it tag me!
the goal is to sew the backs together to the lines at the tip of the head to the middle of the butt. then leaving a space along the belly piece near the butt end and sewing from one side of the butt including all the legs and the “mouth” to the other side with its legs to get back to the butt. if that makes sense
i usually pause sewing up the body once the head is fully sewn together,, usually after ive sewn both arms and ill yank it inside out where ill start sewing on the little poofball eyes so i know theyre in a good place, then resuming the body, and then pulling the whole thing inside out and pushing out the tips of the limbs with a skinny blunt object like a dull pencil until i can see the stitches. if you attempt this piece definitely make sure you stitch up the arm and leg crevices very well!!!!
then just stuff the lad and sew up his back end and its done :)
one suggestion for fabric is always try to use a stretchy soft fleecy fabric with these because its much easier if mistakes are made during sewing and to hold the ROUND shape better
Overall its a very good use of scraps if you’ve accumulated a lot and don’t know what to do with them 👍👍
So I made a frog (huge)
I literally can’t I’m losing my mind over the sheer girth of this frog.
I have to say, there's a different reason to not support breeding- the damn health problems. Even the breeds I used to think were "healthy" have high rates of cancer, heart disease, deafness, hip dysplasia, etc. They're all especially susceptible to something, and even in dogs who's physical build (in line with the breed standard) isn't the problem, it'll take generations of selective breeding to fix, buying from a responsible breeder won't do the trick :/. Cat breeds have the same problems. This is why I'm against breeding purebreds aside from service dogs/search and rescue dogs.
I am sorry to be the one to tell you this, but most dogs available for adoption are either purebreds or from puppy mills. The only other place for them to come from is people letting their dogs roam without neutering them. Dogs bred in puppy mills or through random chance have a far higher chance of health issues than those bred responsibly, and when you adopt, you have no way of knowing if your dog is going to be prone to any given ailment based on its bloodline.
Some breeds, pugs come to mind, are inherently unethical. However, you’re confusing pedigree and AKC show standards with “purebred” dogs and cats as a whole. Purebred just means it was bred with others of the same breed, which is not a bad thing as it makes the dogs produced more predictable and suited to their jobs. Responsible breeders screen all of their breeding pairs thoroughly to mitigate the odds of congenital disease. The entire point of seeking a well-bred dog from a breeder is to avoid the unknowns such as poor temper or health problems.
The “generations of selective breeding” to cure most breeds of congenital diseases you’re referring to has already been done. By responsible breeders.
Both of these collies are the same breed, and both are purebreds. The one on the left was turned out by a puppy mill by crossing two AKC registered purebred collies with no regard to the health, aptitude, or even relatedness of the two dogs. The one on the right was bred by a responsible breeder who ensured there would be no consanguinity, tested both parents for congenital diseases, and ensured all dogs involved were kept in good health throughout the process.
Don’t conflate actually responsible breeders with puppy mills, don’t lump all purebreds together.
Folx is not supposed to be more “gender neutral” than saying folks. It’s meant to be a political statement in the sense that “x” has represented a lack of something or rejection of something esp. I’m American civil rights movements.
I started seeing it in radical groups for people of color and many of the people who used it were also queer/LGBT, neurodivergent, etc. and although everyone had a different way of relating to it, the common theme was a rejection of some status in some space / not fitting into the status quo of some space.
One of my Black friends related their use of it back to Malcom X using “x” to denote his rejection of his slave-descended surname and they felt it was a way to distinguish politically idenditifable “others” in certain spaces.
Like whether you think that’s necessary or not I don’t think it’s worth mocking to the extent that y’all do like if that’s how someone or some groups want to distinguish political otherness then??? It’s literally hurting no one.
crazy how I said this in 2018 and the jokes never stopped nor got any more creative. get a new bit 💜
“it’s not hurting anyone” it’s lessening accessibility. can we at least talk about how this affects people who use screen readers which don’t know how to read words with the x while talking about this
it’s so crazy how you ignored the part where this is also a part of disability conversations… that doesn’t mean we can’t also talk about how screen readers and accessibility tools in general are not actually made to give people equal access.
but that is a systemic issue, not something that is solely unique to the ‘x’. even using the italics to convey emphasis the way you did technically isn’t accessible because it usually doesn’t translate to screen readers, which means the meaning and intention of it is lost. but you still used it. because you probably weren’t aware of a systemic deficiency that applies across a gazillion things we do daily.
i have talked about this extensively before which you would’ve seen w like, two scrolls on my blog but alas.
